Dear Society,
Greetings, my name is Jaydon Spartz and I’m from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I would like to comment on our homeless problem in America, and do my part in my community in an attempt to troubleshoot new ideas to these age old questions. I’m a senior in high school with big dreams, but my dreams never swayed me from what needs to change in our reality. I’ve brought forth information I’ll reference at the bottom of the page; displayed in an MLA format.
To begin with, my first article I stumbled upon was the “Wisconsin Interagency Council on Homelessness”, which included a budget of $3.75 million to prioritize housing for the homeless. But the program requires them to be addiction – or conviction free. In my opinion, this seems contradicting knowing that may be how they found themselves being homeless.
To me personally, $3.75 million seems like a low budget, compared to America’s $19.391 trillion in GDP according to “GDP (Current US$)” by Dan Neiditch. I stand with the ‘WICH’, because humans needing shelter is a necessity, especially if we live in Wisconsin, “Home of the brutal cold”. My suggestion would be make more programs to support our friends we haven’t met yet, increase its budget, or alter the requirements for entry.
Of course I understand the ongoing risk of the public taking advantage of said programs, who may ruin opportunities for the people who really need them. It’s a shame to see others not think twice about this subject, because they never had to experience it. Any assistance to this matter, would mean a great deal to the citizens of America.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to review my appeal. If you wish to add a comment or report any of your findings, leave a thread at the bottom of the page. Hopefully we can help sculpt a brighter tomorrow one step at a time.
